Villa and interior design inspired by the English country houses of Edwin Lutyens.
Explore the projectBergeneyck
Bergeneyck is a villa in the coastal dunes of South Holland, inspired by the houses of British architect Edwin Lutyens. Thatched roofs, brickwork and distinctive chimneys give the house its character and connect the architecture to the landscape.
The villa design brings several volumes together around a sheltered garden. Varied roof forms and elevations give the house a recognisable scale, while large windows draw the garden and surrounding landscape into the interior.
Architecture and interiors are conceived as a whole. Pale brickwork and timber window frames recur throughout the living spaces and bespoke kitchen. Long sightlines connect the different parts of the house. The inspiration drawn from English country-house architecture takes on a contemporary expression, with attention to daylight, everyday comfort and the relationship between interiors and nature.
