Frequently asked questions

About your project, our services and working together.

What kind of projects do you undertake?

We design renovations and extensions to existing and historic homes, from an extension or an additional floor to a complete refurbishment. We also work on energy improvements, kitchens, bathrooms and interiors.

What services do you provide?

We can support you from the initial exploration and concept design through construction drawings, the permit application and the building stage. We agree the scope of our services separately for each commission.

How does the design process work?

Every project has its own sequence of stages. Concept design explores possibilities in relation to your wishes, budget and applicable rules. The preliminary design develops the chosen direction, materials and atmosphere. We then develop the design for permits and contractor quotations. During construction, our agreed services may include advice on the building contract, site supervision and assistance at handover.

What do your services cost?

Our fee depends on the scale of your project and the services you require. We provide a proposal setting out the stages, the work included in each stage and the associated fees.

Do you work with contractors and other specialists?

Yes. We work with a network of contractors, structural engineers and other specialists. We discuss with you which expertise is needed and who will appoint each consultant.

How do you handle permits and regulations?

We investigate the rules relevant to your plans and can prepare the permit application. For listed buildings, conservation areas and particular design requirements, we can discuss feasibility with the municipality at an early stage. The municipality decides whether a permit is granted.

How will I be kept informed?

We arrange presentations and meetings to discuss the design, decisions and progress. This keeps you involved and makes the next steps clear.

Why work with an architect?

An architect brings together spatial quality, everyday use, technical requirements and budget. We explore possibilities that may not be immediately apparent and help you make coherent decisions about layout, materials and construction.

Can you advise before I buy a property or plot?

Yes. An initial exploratory stage considers the potential of a property or plot. Through discussion and sketches, we investigate whether it could meet your wishes and identify issues requiring further investigation.

Are you insured and which terms apply?

We have professional indemnity insurance. The terms applicable to your commission are specified in the agreement. Our Terms and conditions page explains the Consumer Regulation 2013 and DNR 2025 and links to the official documents.
