The design process
Every renovation receives a tailored plan. These are the four usual stages.
Preliminary designA coherent design
We develop the chosen direction into a coherent design. Plans, visualisations and material proposals make the future home tangible.
Technical developmentReady to build
We develop the design further and coordinate with structural engineers and other consultants where needed. We prepare the necessary documents for permits and quotations.
ConstructionGuidance through completion
Within the agreed scope, we guide construction, discuss questions with the contractor and review the result at completion.

What do we retain and what do we change?
We begin with the qualities of the home and the way you live. Characterful details, proportions and useful spaces form the starting point. We then explore changes that help the house function better. Retention and renewal are considered together, as in Classic Contemporary.
How do we combine layout and energy improvements?
We consider comfort, daylight, layout and energy use together. Changes to the building fabric and services affect space and detailing. We investigate these early with suitable advisers. Appropriate measures depend on the building’s condition, available space and any heritage qualities.
What do we investigate before designing?
We discuss your wishes and gather drawings and information about the existing home. We examine layout, structural considerations, maintenance and opportunities for greater comfort. Where further expertise is needed, we identify it. This provides a grounded starting point for design and planning.
