Townhouse renovation and energy improvements, with a side extension, rooflights and bespoke kitchen.
Explore the projectHeavenly light
Renovation, energy improvements and an extension to a listed townhouse. Hemellicht takes its name from two large rooflights in the new side extension, which bring daylight deep into the home. Classical ornament and contemporary bespoke joinery provide the starting point for a renewed interior.
A bespoke kitchen sits beneath the rooflights. The extension creates space for everyday living and connects the new kitchen with the existing rooms. These have been renovated and upgraded with attention to their original proportions and details. New materials, colours and mouldings respond to the historic character of the house while giving it a fresh interpretation.
Old and new also meet elsewhere in the home. A freestanding bath stands in front of the historic fireplace surround, giving it a new role in the bathroom. The stairwell, fitted cabinet and bathroom each follow the same approach: classical with a twist. Together, they create a coherent sequence of spaces with character, light and contemporary comfort.
