Existing details as a starting point

An old door, a moulding or the proportion of a window tells us something about a house. These details are not isolated decoration. They belong to the way the building was conceived and made.

In renovation, we look for these relationships. Retaining character does not require everything to remain unchanged. A new intervention can sometimes reveal qualities that had slipped into the background.

Carefully coordinated materials and proportions allow a home to change while retaining its identity. What is already there becomes a source for the design.
